Global Compact Network Kenya and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) will hold a two-day IFRS S1 and S2 Practical Bootcamp in Westlands, Nairobi, on October 26 and 27, 2026. It is aimed at organisations preparing to disclose sustainability and climate-related risks.
Titled “From Readiness to Reporting,” the bootcamp runs from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on both days. It costs KES 35,000 plus VAT per delegate and carries 14 CPD points. Spaces are limited.
What participants will cover
The hands-on sessions will help teams identify gaps in readiness, clarify board and management responsibilities, and build a reporting cycle that produces reliable data. Topics include governance disclosures, materiality assessment, greenhouse gas accounting and climate-related financial risk disclosures.
Registration is open to finance and reporting teams, sustainability and ESG professionals, risk and compliance teams, internal auditors, and strategy and governance professionals.
Why the standards matter now
IFRS S1 sets general requirements for disclosing sustainability-related financial information, while IFRS S2 covers climate-related disclosures. The International Sustainability Standards Board issued both on 26 June 2023.
ICPAK, Kenya’s accountancy standard setter, announced its intention to adopt the standards on 6 September 2023 and released its adoption roadmap on 14 November 2024. The roadmap takes a phased approach. Voluntary adoption is open to all organisations, and mandatory adoption for public interest entities applies to reporting periods starting on or after 1 January 2027.
